DESCRIPTION:Release the Craicen was a startup band new to the Irish scene in 2017. They debuted in a pub sing along on St. Patrick’s Day. You can often find them down at the Dubliner Pub in St. Paul. Focusing on a Pogues and Flogging Molly influenced Irish Rock-Folk-Punk style\, classic rock rhythms raise up rousing choruses while fiddle and accordion tunes reminisce days gone by. Between classic pub songs\, modern Paddy Rock covers and an original or two\, Release the Craicen has something for everyone. \nWe enjoy a diverse mix of bands and their unique styles of playing. DESCRIPTION:Review of Ray Barnard & The Reverberation’s album Tinted Windows To the Soul by Joe Robbie Luke – (The Roots & Funky Numbers): \nAt first I thought – Sweet\, a converted blue-eyed souler proclaiming his authenticity. Wrong. Thankfully\, Ray Bs got his own bag. Vocally\, he’s drunk deep from the Bill Withers-Pops Staples well understated (and underrated). Song-wise\, hes kinda Mayfield\, kinda old Nashville\, kinda Gamble & Huff\, kinda his own deal. There s also this subtle sense of classic reggae percolating in the production. This gives it a much different slant than retro stars Sharon Jones\, James Hunter\, and Amy Winehouse. The clever use of horns and MPC loops adds cool neo-soul flourishes. My faves are: ‘Carolee’ and ‘Classified\,’ a dense\, funky\, stonewall to a nosy ex-lover. I was intrigued by the protest song in reverse\, Deportation Day\, and loved the spooky\, visceral Race with the Devil. Overall this CD is a shining jewel from out of left field.

SUMMARY:Leslie Rich and the Rocket Soul Choir
DESCRIPTION:Leslie Rich (vocals\, guitar\, keyboards) grew up in Northern Ireland\, listening to a mix of indie rock\, acoustic songwriters and traditional Celtic music. Inspired by artists like Luka Bloom and Throwing Muses\, Leslie became the principal songwriter\, singer and guitarist for bands such as Emily Ryder\, A Little Of The Ready and the Celtic folk band Hounds of Finn\, recording on various labels including Immortal Recordings\, Time To Be Proud Records\, New Folk Records and Loud Folk Records. \nHe founded the Rocket Soul Choir in 1994\, mainly as an acoustic response to the heavy\, guitar-driven\, Irish bands cropping up at that time. Even while Leslie recorded solo albums\, played in other projects and relocated to Minneapolis\, the Rocket Soul Choir continued in various configurations over the years–always with the mission to create stripped-down rock. The band has released four albums\, including the 2016 EP Kidder’s Son\, which received high praise on both sides of the pond\, and their new album The Butcher Boy – the first featuring the current lineup.

DESCRIPTION:Pete McCauley and Tim Cheesebrow are a duo from the Twin Cities\, bringing old tunes to life and having a great time doing it. \nPete McCauley (vocals\, mandolin\, guitar): Pete has played in numerous bands over the years. A founding member and the original guitarist for the rock trio Eddie Mac\, he spent a few years traveling the country\, earned a record contract with SPV Records in Germany\, and released two albums with the independent label Mud Hut Records. Pete also writes material for the Hounds of Finn. Pete met Tim a few years back and asked if they should learn some pub tunes and make some noise together…the rest\, as they say\, is history. Not the kind of history that would make it into any sort of book\, but since it is in the past\, it technically is…history. \nTim Cheesebrow (guitar\, vocals\, occasional mandolin and pennywhistle): Tim is primarily a singer/songwriter. He’ s got 6 or so albums under his belt\, several tours and an extensive solo performance career. He’s always had a spot in his heart for traditional Irish and American folk songs\, and jumped at a chance to play this music with Pete. He’s the founder of Discover Music\, a non-profit that teaches kids to write songs as a healthy mode of self discovery and expression\, and is the author of “Songwriting for Wellness: Using Music to Heal the Mind.” \nfacebook page
