DESCRIPTION:DD & Company is Dick Danaher (accordion\, clarinet\, tenor saxophone\, vocals) and Nick Jordan (guitar\, vocals\, tinwhistle\, and foot percussion) and Philip Rampi (percussion). \nDick Danaher is a long-time luminary of the Twin Cities roots music scene\, on various saxophones and accordion\, most recently with Dan Newton and the late and great Rockin’ Pinecones \nPhilip Rampi plays bass / percussion\, octave mandolin\, banjo and cello with the adventurous string band treVeld\, and with Josh Cleveland and the Cedar Street Band \nNick Jordan is a guitarist and singer with a love for many kinds of roots music; he is equally fond of sublime Swing ballads and raucous Jug-band hollers. He has been working for years in a duo with fiddler Mary DuShane of Prairie Home Companion fame. \nDD & Company play and sing Swing\, Zydeco\, Western Swing\, Old-Time Country\, Rockabilly\, and Jug-Band music\, plus the odd Tango and Irish jig. The tie that binds their music is catchy dance rhythms from many cultures\, propelled by the big voice of the accordion\, jazzy solos on clarinet and sax\, the rich tones of an electric archtop guitar of fine vintage\, fierce double percussion from a small drum kit and relentless foot percussion in the French Canadian style. Legacy also regularly plays at local pubs\, wedding receptions\, private parties\, corporate events\, county fairs\, music festivals and other types of events that want to showcase lively\, engaging\, authentic Irish music. \nLegacy’s repertoire includes a wide range of Irish instrumental music (jigs\, slip jigs\, reels\, marches\, polkas\, waltzes\, airs\, etc.) and an equally broad and diverse collection of Irish vocal music (sailing songs\, rebel songs\, comic songs\, ballads\, etc.)\, many of which feature 3- and 4-part harmonies.

DESCRIPTION:Dowser is the original folk-rock duo of John Kurtis Dehn on vocals\, guitar\, and harmonica and John Strei on drums and hand percussion. A multi-instrumentalist himself\, Strei most recently played drums in the band\, The Flaming Doublewides. DESCRIPTION:Singer/songwriter Jake La Botz plays roots music that reflects his time performing in streets\, bars\, churches\, and even tattoo parlors. You can also hear the various places La Botz has lived in his music — including his time in New Orleans\, the Mississippi Delta\, and his native Chicago where\, as a young man\, he found kinship with some of the last of the pre-war era bluesmen: David “Honeyboy” Edwards\, “Homesick” James Williamson\, and “Maxwell Street” Jimmy Davis. DESCRIPTION:Pete McCauley and Tim Cheesebrow are a duo from the Twin Cities\, bringing old tunes to life and having a great time doing it. \nPete McCauley (vocals\, mandolin\, guitar): Pete has played in numerous bands over the years. A founding member and the original guitarist for the rock trio Eddie Mac\, he spent a few years traveling the country\, earned a record contract with SPV Records in Germany\, and released two albums with the independent label Mud Hut Records. Pete also writes material for the Hounds of Finn. Pete met Tim a few years back and asked if they should learn some pub tunes and make some noise together…the rest\, as they say\, is history. Not the kind of history that would make it into any sort of book\, but since it is in the past\, it technically is…history. \nTim Cheesebrow (guitar\, vocals\, occasional mandolin and pennywhistle): Tim is primarily a singer/songwriter. He’ s got 6 or so albums under his belt\, several tours and an extensive solo performance career. He’s always had a spot in his heart for traditional Irish and American folk songs\, and jumped at a chance to play this music with Pete. DESCRIPTION:Review of Ray Barnard & The Reverberation’s album Tinted Windows To the Soul by Joe Robbie Luke – (The Roots & Funky Numbers): \nAt first I thought – Sweet\, a converted blue-eyed souler proclaiming his authenticity. Wrong. Thankfully\, Ray Bs got his own bag. Vocally\, he’s drunk deep from the Bill Withers-Pops Staples well understated (and underrated). Song-wise\, hes kinda Mayfield\, kinda old Nashville\, kinda Gamble & Huff\, kinda his own deal. There s also this subtle sense of classic reggae percolating in the production. This gives it a much different slant than retro stars Sharon Jones\, James Hunter\, and Amy Winehouse. The clever use of horns and MPC loops adds cool neo-soul flourishes. My faves are: ‘Carolee’ and ‘Classified\,’ a dense\, funky\, stonewall to a nosy ex-lover. I was intrigued by the protest song in reverse\, Deportation Day\, and loved the spooky\, visceral Race with the Devil. Overall this CD is a shining jewel from out of left field.
