Their great\, new band is called The Beatnik Brothers and they keep the hits coming from the 50s 60s and 70s! \nMichael Goldberg is an unsung hero of the mid-90s Minneapolis music scene. While flying under the radar for years\, He has continued to record catchy and inspired alt/pop songs. In the 90s\, Mike’s powerful song writing and unique tenor voice hooked the ear of legendary hit maker\, Steven Greenberg (Funkytown) who signed him and bass player/singer Michael Waldman to October Records. Together they made a groundbreaking concept album; Native Sons – Lost in Time\, produced by the famed John “Strawberry” Fields. (Jonas Brothers\, Switchfoot\, Miley Cyrus\, etc.) Fields just recently said\, “Mike has a wonderful pop sensibility and his songs are bursting with blissful melodies. DESCRIPTION:Review of Ray Barnard & The Reverberation’s album Tinted Windows To the Soul by Joe Robbie Luke – (The Roots & Funky Numbers): \nAt first I thought – Sweet\, a converted blue-eyed souler proclaiming his authenticity. Wrong. Thankfully\, Ray Bs got his own bag. Vocally\, he’s drunk deep from the Bill Withers-Pops Staples well understated (and underrated). Song-wise\, hes kinda Mayfield\, kinda old Nashville\, kinda Gamble & Huff\, kinda his own deal. There s also this subtle sense of classic reggae percolating in the production. This gives it a much different slant than retro stars Sharon Jones\, James Hunter\, and Amy Winehouse. The clever use of horns and MPC loops adds cool neo-soul flourishes. My faves are: ‘Carolee’ and ‘Classified\,’ a dense\, funky\, stonewall to a nosy ex-lover. I was intrigued by the protest song in reverse\, Deportation Day\, and loved the spooky\, visceral Race with the Devil. Overall this CD is a shining jewel from out of left field.

DESCRIPTION:Pete McCauley and Tim Cheesebrow are a duo from the Twin Cities\, bringing old tunes to life and having a great time doing it. \nPete McCauley (vocals\, mandolin\, guitar): Pete has played in numerous bands over the years. A founding member and the original guitarist for the rock trio Eddie Mac\, he spent a few years traveling the country\, earned a record contract with SPV Records in Germany\, and released two albums with the independent label Mud Hut Records. Pete also writes material for the Hounds of Finn. Pete met Tim a few years back and asked if they should learn some pub tunes and make some noise together…the rest\, as they say\, is history. Not the kind of history that would make it into any sort of book\, but since it is in the past\, it technically is…history. \nTim Cheesebrow (guitar\, vocals\, occasional mandolin and pennywhistle): Tim is primarily a singer/songwriter. He’ s got 6 or so albums under his belt\, several tours and an extensive solo performance career. He’s always had a spot in his heart for traditional Irish and American folk songs\, and jumped at a chance to play this music with Pete. He’s the founder of Discover Music\, a non-profit that teaches kids to write songs as a healthy mode of self discovery and expression\, and is the author of “Songwriting for Wellness: Using Music to Heal the Mind.” \nfacebook page

DESCRIPTION:Singer/songwriter Jake La Botz plays roots music that reflects his time performing in streets\, bars\, churches\, and even tattoo parlors. You can also hear the various places La Botz has lived in his music — including his time in New Orleans\, the Mississippi Delta\, and his native Chicago where\, as a young man\, he found kinship with some of the last of the pre-war era bluesmen: David “Honeyboy” Edwards\, “Homesick” James Williamson\, and “Maxwell Street” Jimmy Davis. In 2017 and 2019 Jake released his studio albums Sunnyside and They’re Coming for Me on Hi-Style Records to critical acclaim. Produced by Jimmy Sutton\, both albums won Independent Music Awards. Jake has toured extensively in the U.S. and Europe and has shared the stage with Ray Charles\, Etta James\, Dr. John\, Mavis Staples\, JD McPherson\, Buddy Guy and Junior Wells\, Tony Joe White\, Low Cut Connie and a host of other greats.
