The Good Time Gals
at the Dubliner
Where good music and good times come together… “The Good Time Gals” is a fresh, fun, vintage inspired duo with modern sensibilities. Miss Myra and Debbie Briggs deliver a one-of-a-kind musical performance featuring guitar with tight vocal harmonies, playful arrangements, and peppered with influences of blues, hot club jazz, western swing, old country, and popular music of the 20s, 30s, and 40s.
The Good Time Gals was founded in late 2020 by Debbie Briggs (of Debbie Briggs Vintage Jazz) and Myra Burnette, a.k.a. “Miss Myra” (of Miss Myra and the Moonshiners). Briggs and Burnette met in a speakeasy of all places back in 2019 and became fast friends bonding over their shared love of old jazz and all things vintage. They began inviting each other to sit in on their respective gigs and the project took off from there. The Good Time Gals was born!
Miss Myra is a threat on every level. Her golden voice will bring you from rock bottom to ecstasy and back with her driving guitar rhythm. Her style of hard hitting swing guitar is reminiscent of Django Reinhardt. She also draws influence from legendary blues guitarists such as Leadbelly and Blind Boy Fuller. If you let her near a piano, you’ll hear virtuosity from ragtime to Lizst. In addition to her musical talent, she is known for lighting up the dance floor with traditional American jazz dances such as lindy hop, charleston and blues.
Debbie recently returned to her roots here in the Cities after having lived in Los Angeles, Philadelphia, and New York City. She studied Musical Theatre at the exotic location of U of WI- Stevens Point. After college, Debbie performed professionally across many stages, screens, and radio waves but stepped away from performing for a time to pursue other passions. Now happily making her return to the stage with Jazz! Debbie has always had a deep love of “old jazz standards”, and all things vintage.
